The Action Plan builds on and joins together existing patchy financial support, community, business and workforce development to make social enterprises better businesses that realise public good.
It will deliver initiatives directly related to the following strategic objectives:
- increase the formation, growth and survival rates of social enterprises
- improve information and communication between and outside the social enterprise sector
- grow market opportunities
The long-term outcomes of the Action Plan will be:
- the establishment of a new social enterprise web-site and information database, leading to new and improved training opportunities and knowledge exchange within the sector
- full recognition, from the public and private sectors, of social enterprises as quality providers of goods and services, as well as social inclusion measures
- establishment of a mechanism for developing existing and emerging social enterprises in a sustainable way
- exchange of good practice and information
For administrative purposes the county has been divided into the six districts:
- Allerdale
- Barrow
- Carlisle
- Copeland
- Eden
- South Lakeland
